Lockwood Centre For Horses & Donkeys

How you can help us

Support Lockwood Donkey Centre donate online today © RSPCA

The current running costs of the centre are approximately £800 a day and we receive no government support. The RSPCA and our supporters have spent considerable sums raising the standard of the centre, but there is so much more that needs to be done.

Find out about the many ways you can help us:

Adopt a donkey

For just £24 you can sponsor one of our lovely donkeys for a year. You will receive a copy of Hoofprints our twice yearly magazine, a photo of your donkey and a certificate. To find out more visit our adopt a donkey page.

Make an online donation

Make an online donation today. You can choose to make a single donation or a regular monthly donation. The money you gift to us will help us continue to care for horses, ponies and donkeys who have suffered from neglect and cruelty.

Cinderella scheme

Lockwood donkey Tinsel © RSPCA

Tinsel arrived at Lockwood in July 2007 with Valgus - similar to knock knees in humans. This means she is unable to walk without special shoes that need to be changed every 6 weeks.

Each of Tinsel's special shoes cost £100. We need sponsors to help us pay for Tinsel's shoes and keep her on her feet.

Please send us a cheque* for £100 and become a Cinderella sponsor. You will receive a special thank you letter, certificate and photo of Tinsel thanking you for your support.

Fundraising

Fundraising activities can be large or small and all will be greatly appreciated by our horses, ponies and donkeys. We can support you with materials and advice, so have a go – you could raise more than think is possible!

Last year Angela Pennicard raised £1,000 for her Sky Dive in aid of the Lockwood Centre for Horses and Donkeys. A terrific achievement. Please email us if you fancy throwing yourself out of a plane or running a marathon or any similar activities.

Volunteer

If you are aged 16+, we would love to welcome you as a volunteer at Lockwood to help us run the centre when we are open to the public. This could be as a regular commitment or on occasional open days.

You can also help with mucking out. Unfortunately, due to Helath and Safety legislation, we are unable to take on any volunteers or work experience placements to work hands on with equines unless they have completed our Standard Procedures training. Please email us if you are interested in helping.
