Harmsworth Memorial Animal Hospital
What we do
Services provided
Harmsworth Memorial Animal Hospital provides a 24-hour veterinary service for sick or injured owned and stray animals.
People on a low income, or who are on certain benefits, and who live within the hospital’s catchment areas can take their animals to the hospital for veterinary advice and treatment.
The hospital actively supports the neutering of animals in the London area and the spaying or castration of cats and dogs makes up the majority of planned operations at the hospital.
The hospital has links with the Beaumont Animal Hospital of the Royal Veterinary College so that any animal that needs to be neutered can be operated on as soon as possible. The hospital participates in the C4 neutering initiative and accepts many different vouchers issued by animal charities to cover the cost of neutering a pet.
The animal hospital encourages owners to protect their pets by providing a very low-cost microchipping service for cats and other animals, and promoting worming, vaccination and the use of flea treatments.
Hospital facilities
Harmsworth Memorial Animal Hospital has eight wards and two operating theatres, as well as diagnostic and laboratory facilities
The hospital is open for consultations from 9am to 3pm; however it does not operate an appointment system and during busy times clients do have to wait to see a vet.
For individuals who live in the hospital catchment area an emergency service is available after 3pm, at weekends and bank holidays. This service can be accessed by ringing 0300 123 8071 for further information and advice.
Medicines and special animal diets prescribed by the veterinary surgeons at the hospital, as well as flea and worming treatments, can be purchased from the hospital’s dispensary.
