Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre
Adoption
We spend a considerable amount of time with our animals getting to know them so that we can assess the kind of home and lifestyle they need. Then, when they are ready, we make every effort to find them a suitable home.
A special case that came into the care of Bryn-y-Maen was 8-month-old Bella who had a severe skin condition when she arrived at the centre. Her skin took many months to heal and staff had to gently harden up her paw pads to cope with walking on hard group as they were also affected by her condition.
Being the most kind-hearted and gentle dog, Bella didn’t mind all the treatment she had to go through and wasn’t stressed about spending so much time in our care. When she was eventually signed off by the centre’s vet everyone kept their fingers crossed that this sweet soul would soon find a new home.
Bella didn’t have to wait long. Her new owner came all the way from Sussex to meet her and Bella is now enjoying running round the fields with her canine friends, playing with the horse feed buckets and generally having a wonderful time!
Can you offer a rescue animal a new home?
At any one time we are caring for over 100 animals at the centre. Our animals are looking for someone to offer them a loving home, to be a friend and look after them. In return a pet will offer fun, friendship and loyalty.

Foster an animal
Some animals need a little bit of extra TLC to overcome their ordeal. These animals are in need of a foster home where they will get all the attention they need to get them ready for a second chance in their ‘forever home’.
Like Oggie, a lovely lurcher who spent months in kennels in different centres looking for a home. He was sadly being overlooked again and again and became more stressed in the kennel environment. Due to the stress staff found it hard to keep weight on him so it was decided that he would benefit from spending some time in a foster home.
He certainly enjoyed the creature comforts and was a very respectful and grateful 'house guest'! Spending time in a home environment also gave staff a better idea of what Oggie would be like in a new home.
Fosterers are indispensible to helping some of our animals to overcome their ordeal. Therefore we operate a foster scheme to recruit more fosterers and support our foster network. Please contact us for more information.
