Lilly's story

Hungry and alone Lilly was found with her companion in the flat where they'd been left to starve. Sadly it was too late to save Lilly's only friend.

Dog died in shocking conditions

Lilly, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross, was found in a flat in Tyne and Wear in June 2011.

The body of her only companion, a bull mastiff-type dog, was in the same room with Lilly. Both dogs had been left to starve and when the bull mastiff died Lilly was forced to eat part of the carcass to stay alive.

Justice for animals left to suffer

The dogs’ owner was sentenced to 17 weeks in prison for causing the bull mastiff to suffer.

He was also banned from keeping animals for 10 years.

Lilly has found a new loving home with the policeman who originally removed her from the flat.
