Senior parliamentary advisor
Our senior parliamentary advisor, Stacey Frier, loves all things political. However, after completing a degree in politics Stacey and spending a year working for a member of parliament, she soon discovered that she would much rather be influencing politicians' decisions than working for them.
It’s great to be working for a charity, lobbying MPs about things that will improve the lives of animals.
Making our voice heard
MPs deal with hundreds of issues everyday and animal welfare is just a teeny-tiny part of what they do.
Stacey works hard to ensure that our voice is heard in both Westminster and the European Union, keeping MPs and MEPs up to date on what we’re working on.
As well as sending information on current campaigns; Stacey will also respond to requests for information about animal welfare issues, at a moment’s notice, so it’s important that she knows what could potentially come up throughout the year.
We’re trying to second guess what’s in MPs' heads, and gather information so that we’re prepared when they call us and say ‘I’m attending a debate on this issue today - what information can you provide me with.
Our diplomatic go-to girl
Stacey builds successful working relationships with MPs and government departments, and when it comes to knowing the best person to help us get what we want from our campaigns, she's our go-to girl!
Stacey is also responsible for smoothing out any issues that arise and ensuring that politicians understand why we are taking, or not taking, an action.
Challenges for the future
Stacey is currently trying to stop the government taking a backward step for animal welfare by weakening controls on animal experiments.
