Welfare Principles Footprint Achievers 2011

Animal Welfare Principles Footprint

The Animal Welfare Principles Footprint includes the provision of a written policy on animal welfare and examples of good practice sharing.

Additional requirements for website links and information, and adoption of higher welfare policies with regard to food procurement, were also included.

2011 has been a breakthrough year for this category with Oldham becoming the first local authority to receive the Gold Footprint. There is also a strong chasing pack with Silver Footprint achieving Councils further improving their policies in 2011.

The RSPCA aims to encourage more local authorities to take part in this footprint and assist the chasing Silver pack to secure Gold Footprints in 2012.
