Casual Wildlife Assistant - 16 week summer placement
Location: Nantwich, Cheshire
Hourly rate: £8.13
The RSPCA, the world’s largest and oldest animal welfare organisation, is looking for 3 casual Wildlife Assistants to join the team at Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, working for the rehabilitation of wild animal casualties and their integration back to the wild. These posts are summer placements for a period of up to 4 months, and involve shift work: 4 days on, 2 days off. Shifts consist of one early shift (8am - 4pm) and three late shifts (1pm – 9pm).
The main responsibilities of the post include:
• Admitting, caring for, preparing for release, releasing and monitoring wildlife casualties according to the standard procedures and protocols of the centre.
• Accurately recording information and assisting in the collation of statistics.
• Carrying out all care and rehabilitation procedures, as defined in the centre protocols, for the benefit of injured wildlife.
The successful applicant should have:
• Bird identification skills
• Wild animal handling experience
• Good communication skills
• Driving licence
• Some experience of working in a wildlife rehabilitation centre, veterinary practice or animal care centre preferred.
