We have achieved so much. It’s hard not to sound like we’re blowing our own elephant-sized trumpet – but we have.
From big fancy legal changes over the last 185 years to small successes on a daily basis – we are proud of all of our successes, which are frankly too numerous to name them all here. So here’s just a taster. . .
We have put a stop to the suffering of millions of animals – each and every single one a success in its own right.
In the early days the focus was mainly on working animals but as pets became more popular and other trends developed, such as the fur trade or factory farming – we’ve put our resources wherever they are needed.

Our experience has made us quick to recognise developing trends, which has enabled us to set about changing the law so that our mission can reach even further than the animals we come face-to-face with.
We have contributed to animal welfare laws such as those relating to tail docking, hunting, badger protection and lab animals. The most significant recent legal change we pushed for has been the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Find out what difference the Animal Welfare Act has made.
Successful campaigns can have a positive impact on the lives of many animals, and also the people who take action. Our campaigns have resulted in animal welfare savvy consumers, who are more aware about puppy trafficking, food labelling, and the fur and leather trade, among other issues.
And every year we receive more and more fresh nominations for the RSPCA Good Business Awards.
If we were a peacock we’d be fanning our tail feathers right about now, as we mention our flair for finding new ways to help out our animal friends – and their owners.
Every year our annual review is flush with just a selection of stories and new initiatives. We’re proud to offer services like Home for life, a free service giving peace of mind to pet owners that their animals will be taken care of if they die.
PetRetreat offers invaluable support for pet owners fleeing domestic situations – and in fact often is the reason they can leave – because they can place their pets with trusted foster carers. And pets get slim has over 1,000 pets signed up to beat the bulge and get healthy.
What can we say, it all just comes naturally to us. But we’re nothing without you. We rely entirely on public support to fund our work, back our campaigns and rehome animals.
Please continue to support us – there’s still so much more to achieve!
