Inspector Kia Thomas
Kia decided to take the challenge as it was such a great opportunity to raise money, especially with the difficult financial situation that the RSPCA is facing.
She has been a fully-fledged RSPCA inspector since graduating in September 2011. Before joining the RSPCA, Kia worked on a community farm with donkeys, goats and pigs among other animals, helping people with challenging backgrounds to work with and understand animals.
She said: “I am really inspired by the trek although it will be as much of a challenge to raise the money!”
Here is just one example of why Kia needs your support...
Stray terrapin found and reunited with family after almost a year
A stray terrapin picked up by the RSPCA has been reunited with his owners after being missing for almost a year!
'Coral Reef' the yellow-bellied slider terrapin was recently found on a member of the public's driveway uninjured but cold and was then taken into RSPCA care. Posters were put up and the RSPCA also sent out an appeal for information to the local north Wales media.
Soon the RSPCA received a phone call from an excited family after they had spotted their long lost pet in the Evening Leader!
Kia said: "The family lost the terrapin last summer when they put him outside on the decking while the tank was being cleaned out.
"The terrapin ended up taking a dip in their pond and despite searching for him afterwards, the family could not locate him at all...until now!
"This little chap has obviously been on a bit of an adventure and it is marvellous that he has somehow managed to survive. It's great that he is now reunited with his family and their two other terrapins!"

An Inspector's view...
In a recent blog post one of our brave inspectors, Lee Hopgood, explains how he got involved in this incredible challenge.
Read about the crazy things he's done (dressed as a gorilla no less!) to raise funds in the name of animal welfare. Discover why he is so determined to reach their target of £80,000, and the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
