Help ban wild animals in circuses in Wales!

76 per cent of the Welsh public supports a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses*

Wales has the opportunity to ban the use of wild animals in circuses… but we need your help.

Opinions have changed. The Welsh public no longer sees the use of wild animals in circuses as an appropriate form of entertainment for the modern world. People are also starting to recognise the many welfare concerns for wild animals being made to perform and travel the country for our amusement.

Currently there are no circuses using wild animals based in Wales, but visiting circuses from England, Ireland and mainland Europe are still able to perform here. We also need to make sure that a circus using wild animals couldn’t base itself in Wales sometime in the future.

We need to show the Assembly Government that there is strong public support for a ban of wild animals being used in circuses within Wales. To do this you can:

• Write to the editor of your local paper telling them why you support a ban.
   
• Support circuses that don’t use animals – these highly acclaimed circuses emphasise human performance skills.
   
• Awareness is key: talk to your friends, family and colleagues about the problems faced by wild animals in circuses.
