What we're doing

We launched our Rooting for Pigs campaign in January 2009. We’re campaigning to improve welfare conditions for pigs by:

• raising awareness with consumers about welfare conditions for pigs in the UK and other countries
• working with the British pig industry and retailers to ensure consumers are provided with clear and consistent production method labelling to help them make an informed choice when purchasing pork products
• working to achieve legal status for production method labelling definitions at an EU level
• working to secure amendments to the current legislation at EU level that covers pig welfare
