Question 1
Why adopt a Staffy from the RSPCA?
Answer: Staffies can make excellent pets and in the right home can live happily with children and other pets. However, a large number of Staffies and Staffy crossbreeds that come into our care have been mistreated - in fact in 2009 nearly a quarter of the Staffordshire Bull Terriers (SBT) and SBT crossbreeds that came into RSPCA regional animal centres were cruelty case, or ex-cruelty case dogs – and will have had a tough time in their former life. It’s important therefore that their next home is the right home – their home for life and we will take extra care to match the right dog with the right owner. This means if you adopt a Staffy from us you’ll experience that wonderful feeling that comes from knowing you’ve given a special home to an animal that really needs it.
- 1Contact a branch or animal centre and arrange to visit them. To save time you can download and complete an application form below.
- 2The branch or animal centre will give you information on adopting an animal, including the cost, and can help you fill out the right forms.
- 3Following an assessment to match you with the right pet, you can meet the animals and reserve the Staffy you like.
- 4A home visit will then be carried out to check your home is suitable for the Staffy you have chosen.
- 5When all the paperwork and checks are complete - you can take your Staffy home!
- 6A follow-up visit is usually carried out to make sure that you, your family and your new Staffy are happy.
