Why adopt a Staffy from the RSPCA?

Answer: Staffies can make excellent pets and in the right home can live happily with children and other pets. However, a large number of Staffies and Staffy crossbreeds that come into our care have been mistreated - in fact in 2009 nearly a quarter of the Staffordshire Bull Terriers (SBT) and SBT crossbreeds that came into RSPCA regional animal centres were cruelty case, or ex-cruelty case dogs – and will have had a tough time in their former life. It’s important therefore that their next home is the right home – their home for life and we will take extra care to match the right dog with the right owner. This means if you adopt a Staffy from us you’ll experience that wonderful feeling that comes from knowing you’ve given a special home to an animal that really needs it.

 
How to adopt a Staffy

    Contact a branch or animal centre and arrange to visit them. To save time you can download and complete an application form below.

    The branch or animal centre will give you information on adopting an animal, including the cost, and can help you fill out the right forms.

    Following an assessment to match you with the right pet, you can meet the animals and reserve the Staffy you like.

    A home visit will then be carried out to check your home is suitable for the Staffy you have chosen.

    When all the paperwork and checks are complete - you can take your Staffy home!

    A follow-up visit is usually carried out to make sure that you, your family and your new Staffy are happy.
