Wales Control of Dogs Bill
The Welsh Government is planning a new law to tackle problems with irresponsible dog ownership. This can be anything from an owner letting a dog stray and foul, or not dealing with aggressive or other inappropriate behaviour towards other dogs, animals or people.
This new Bill is a big step forward to help issues around the control of dogs, and a great opportunity to make sure that all dogs get a fair deal in Wales!
Many of you in Wales helped by telling the Welsh Government that you supported the new Bill during its draft consultation, along with a few tweaks which could make it even better for dogs. The consultation closed on the 1st of March, but please check back in soon for more oppertunities to take action on this important issue.

Puppy breeding
The Welsh Government is planning a new law for puppy breeding in Wales, but we have some problems with their proposals. We are worried about things like how much time puppies and dogs should have around people, the numbers of litters a dog should have, how microchipping is used and how the new law will be enforced.
Thank you to everyone who took our action to respond to the Welsh Government consultation about what they need to change in the new law to give puppies and dogs a fair deal. We have had a great response and are hopeful that our suggestions will be taken into account. Stay tuned for updates on how this is progressing and whether more action is needed.

Puppies can’t speak for themselves, so thank you for speaking up for them instead!
Microchipping of dogs in Wales
We are extremely happy that the Welsh Government is considering introducing compulsory microchipping of dogs in Wales, but dogs need more!
We have always supported microchipping as an important part of responsible dog ownership, but we are worried that there will be no real benefit unless some important conditions are included in the new regulations.
