Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010
31.12.09
After the 'nineties' and the 'noughties', will the 'teenies' be the best decade yet for improved farm animal welfare?
We hope so, and the signs are good: The Co-Operative Bank's Ethical Consumerism Report (December 2009) found that spending on ethical food and drink increased by more than 300 per cent in the last decade. And another survey, 'Shoppers in 2012' by the Institute of Grocery Distributors (IGD), found that a third (34%) of shoppers expect to be buying more foods with high animal welfare standards in the future. In fact animal welfare has become the fastest-rising factor influencing people's food choice. So, if you make only one New Year resolution this year, commit to choosing more higher-welfare labelled food such as Freedom Food and help improve the lives of even more farm animals.
