Hettie competition launches in Hamley
Hamley’s flagship toy store in London’s Regent Street will play host to a very special event this Easter weekend.
Their Easter promotion, “Let’s Play on the Farm”, will see a variety of themed activity including puppet shows, story telling, sunflower seed workshops and scarecrow building lessons – and the store’s famous mascot bears dressed as farmers. The store anticipates around 125,000 visitors over the Easter weekend, with 15,000 expected to participate in the farming themed event.
Linking in to the farming theme, Freedom Food – in association with Hamley and the RSPCA – will be launching a competition offering children the chance to ‘Help Hettie the Hen and star in your own animation”.
The competition is also being promoted via Hamley’s e-newsletter – circulated to 300,000 customers as well on their website - http://www.hamleys.com
Children are being asked to help develop a personality for Hettie and identify what she should say to people about hens that will help them understand why they should choose higher welfare eggs.
The winner of the competition will work with an animator and help design and star in a short animation that will be used to spread the word. The animation will be launched during this year’s RSPCA Freedom Food Farm Animal Week (July 25-31).
Jo Wilkinson, marketing and events co-ordinator at Hamley, London says:
This prize is something money can’t buy and the competition is engaging, creative but also educational. We anticipate a very high level of entry.
