What are the benefits to food
service industry?
Whether you work in the cost or profit sector, sourcing Freedom Food products can give you a competitive edge. By recognising that farm animal welfare is a key selling point you can offer schools, hospitals, local authorities and restaurants a range of Freedom Food labelled products that provide the provenance and higher welfare credentials demanded by today’s discerning public.
Use of the Freedom Food logo must adhere to our guidelines to protect its integrity. All suppliers are inspected by qualified assessors, and each product comes with assured farm-to-fork traceability.
What is Freedom Food?
The Freedom Food farm assurance and food labelling scheme was set up by the RSPCA in 1994. It’s the only UK farm assurance scheme dedicated to farm animal welfare. The scheme assesses the entire supply chain, offers robust traceability checks and is backed by one of the most respected animal charities in the world.
High-profile campaigns by Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall have helped to raise public awareness of Freedom Food. More and more people want to be sure that the food they are eating has been produced from animals reared to higher welfare standards. This assurance is provided by the Freedom Food logo.
Freedom Food is a trusted and recognised brand. When consumers see the logo on food packaging, school dinner or restaurant menus, they can be 100 per cent confident that the animal has been reared according to the RSPCA’s higher welfare standards under the Freedom Food farm assurance scheme.
Simply Ask
Freedom Food has launched Simply Ask, a campaign to encourage consumers to think about the provenance of the food they eat when eating out, and to encourage restaurants to use only higher-welfare sources.
