Laying hens - Uncaged eggs back to food & farming

The RSPCA is calling on the UK government to ban all battery cages.

Around 19 million hens live in battery cages in this country. They have almost no space to stretch their wings, move around properly or behave naturally.

Under new European legislation conventional battery cages will be banned in 2012. However, so-called 'enriched' cages will still be allowed. The RSPCA wants to see all laying hens kept in free-range or barn systems.
