Consequences of irresponsible dog ownership

Young people may become involved in cruelty to animals for a variety of reasons. The activities below address each of these contributing factors.

  • In this activity, young people will begin to think about the consequences of having a dog that you encourage to be aggressive. They examine a case study of a real life, non-intentional dog attack where a five year-old girl is killed by a pit bull terrier who belongs to her uncle.

  • In this activity, young people will begin to think about the consequences of having a dog that you encourage to be aggressive. They look at photos of people with injuries that have been caused by attacks by dogs of different types and breeds. They are asked to imagine what the person felt like during and after the dog attack.

  • In this activity, young people will begin to think about the consequences of having a dog that you encourage to be aggressive. The activity concentrates on the consequences of dog fighting, with a focus on informal fighting between dogs.
