Ground rules for farm animals
- This activity is just one part of a range of resources addressing the needs of young people who have been involved, or who are at risk of being involved, in cruelty to animals. Our online assessment tool Developing a suitable intervention programme (Word 17KB) will help you create individualised intervention programmes from these resources.
- In this activity, young people develop ground rules for owning and visiting farm animals, to ensure the animals are safe and well.
- They develop the understanding that:
- people who own or who are responsible for farm animals, such as farmers, must give them everything they need to be happy and healthy
- when we come into contact with farm animals, we must behave in a way that does not scare or harm them
- society expects us all to act responsibly around farm animals.
- You will need to do the Smiley face activity from the Basic welfare needs and sentience section beforehand. And it’s important to do this activity before going on to the Visit activity in this section if your visit is connected with farm animals.
