Animals and the law
- This activity is just one part of a range of resources addressing the needs of young people who have been involved, or who are at risk of being involved, in cruelty to animals. Our online assessment tool Developing a suitable intervention programme (Word 17KB) will help you create individualised intervention programmes from these resources.
- In this activity, young people consider scenarios involving humans and animals, and decide whether they are lawful.
- Young people will:
- begin to realise that animals are protected by law
- explore which human actions towards animals are against the law
- explore the concept that just because an action is lawful, it is not necessarily in the best interests of the animal.
- Activity 1 below follows on directly from the What is missing? activity in the What is cruelty? section.
- If you have not already done What is missing?, use activity 2: Is it against the law?
