Young volunteers awarded
Two young people from South Wales have been recognised by the RSPCA for their efforts in animal welfare.
The first RSPCA Honours ceremony took place at our headquarters in Southwater, West Sussex on Saturday, 11th September 2010.
Demi and Georgia Stevens from Bonymaen, South Wales were presented with the RSPCA Charlotte Wright award, which recognises the kindness that young people show to animals.
Demi and Georgia volunteer at the Llys Nini animal centre in Swansea, where they feed and groom cats and help them to socialise. They and their family also foster some of the cats until they have homes to go to.
RSPCA chief executive Mark Watts said of the awards:
"The RSPCA is here for the greater good of animal welfare and these awards recognise the amazing people who are integral to the success of the Society. They have transformed the lives of many, many animals and are a true inspiration to us all.
"The work carried out by the RSPCA could not be done without the goodwill of the nation and the dedication of the people here today. It’s vital we recognise them and celebrate their efforts and achievements."
