Farm Animal Week, 18-24 June 2012
Do your pupils know where their food comes from?
Farm animal week is RSPCA Freedom Food’s annual week dedicated to raising awareness of farm animal welfare.
We care about the lives of the animals in our farming industry. We believe that, just like our pets, they deserve to be happy and healthy and free from suffering. But we also know that there is still work to be done to achieve this.
Take a look at our farm animal welfare facts to find out more about why we should all be thinking more about the food we eat and where it comes from.
What can your school do for Farm Animal Week?
We have produced loads of free lesson plans to help you address the issue of farm animal welfare with your class.

More about RSPCA’s Freedom Food scheme
Freedom Food is the RSPCA’s farm assurance and food labelling scheme. It is the only UK farm assurance scheme to focus solely on improving the welfare of farm animals reared for food.
Whether it is an egg-laying hen, a salmon, or a sheep (or for that matter, any other animal covered by the scheme), we believe that animals reared for food deserve a happy, healthy life.
Find out more about how Freedom Food works, the RSPCA welfare standards and where you can buy Freedom Food labelled food.
More about Freedom Food for pupils
We have devised a special lesson to help Key Stage 2 pupils understand more about the Freedom Food scheme and how it operates.
