How we can help

In addition to the free resources offered on this website, The RSPCA Education team includes education, training and development advisers (ETDAs) and prevention programme advisers (PPTDAs) in various locations in England and Wales. Find out more about our team.

Everything you need to teach animal welfare, all in one place...

  • Browse through our wide variety of free lesson plans for teachers, linked to the English and Welsh curricula

  • Reach out to a young person. Our free intervention programmes and young people and dogs activities have been designed for youth justice professionals working with young people who are at risk of, or who have been convicted of cruelty to animals

  • Engage young minds with our free-to-access interactive resources for young people aged 5-16 - most of which are linked to the English/Welsh curricula

Professional training and development...

We share our knowledge and experience of animal welfare issues through the following training programmes:

For teachers

  • Our ETDAs offer Initial Teacher Training to universities offering PGCE, BEd, BSc/BA with QTS; SCITT and GTP providers, as part of local authority support days; and NQTs.

  • INSET is also available to groups of teachers in a twilight session or in either a half or full-day workshop. Contact us to see if these services are available in your area.

  • We are a member of the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) and offer frequent training sessions in England and Wales.

For youth justice professionals

  • Our PPAs offer training sessions for professionals working with young people who are at risk of, or have been convicted of cruelty to animals. Contact us about organising a free youth intervention training session.

Please note: We are unable to provide one-off talks and sessions for pupils and young people at this time. If you have any queries about the services we offer, please get in touch.
