Learning how to care for an animal is an important part of growing up and it is also a big responsibility!
In CBBC’s Pet School nine children have been looking after a variety of different animals to find out what being a good pet owner really entails. The children hope that they can persuade their parents that they are ready to be responsible pet owners. To find out if they succeed you’ll need to tune in to Pet School.
But, if you’d like to find out what happened to some of the animals after their five minutes of fame read on....
Daisy and Tinkerbell
The story of Daisy and Tinkerbell is a classic rags-to-riches tale. These two year old lop eared brown bunnies were discovered in poor condition in a back garden. Having not been given the loving care they needed it was time for a fresh start.
The rabbits were taken to our Blackberry Farm Animal Centre in Aylesbury where they got their first big break into showbiz!~
And, once their time in Pet School was over, these two lucky bunnies got to go home with Mr Ingram and his daughter.
Now happy house bunnies Daisy and Tinkerbell get to roam in the garden when the mood takes them and when it doesn’t they can often be found stretched out under the kitchen table!
Fuzzy
It’s hard to believe that before Fuzzy made his television debut his star-like personality hadn’t been recognised!
Now that filming is over 3-year-old neutered guinea pig Fuzzy is retiring in style, with his new girlfriend Bella.
The happy couple love to run around the tunnels in their pen together. And their new owners Lulietta and Bertie (aged 4 and 7) are making them both feel like stars.
Amy and Tasha
This slightly awkward pair of guinea pigs were ‘discovered’ at our South Godstone Animal Centre. Both were incredibly shy for their own reasons, Amy is a little overweight and Tasha was thoughtlessly abandoned, they couldn’t believe that they had been chosen to be on TV!
Although the pair loved their five minutes of fame, they decided the lime-light wasn’t for them. And when they were lucky enough to find a new home together they took on new names. Tasha is now called Opal and Amy is now Amber.
The Shutler family, who adopted them, aren’t bothered about whether the pair or famous or not. They love them just for who they are.
Unfortunately Amber is still a bit on the chunky size, but has settled in very well with Opal, Crystal and Daphne, our other rescue pigs. Christopher who is 15 is holding Opal and Harry who is 12 is holding Amber.
We all love them very much and are so pleased to have them as part of our family.
