Adult cats can be playful too!

It’s a sad fact that all too often adult cats in our care are overlooked by potential owners in favour of younger felines.

In truth an adult rescue cat will make a wonderful pet to the right owner. Often they’re just as playful as kittens - and a little easier to care for.

Give an adult rescue cat a chance

James Yeates rehomed an adult cat from our Bristol Branch. Adopting a rescued adult cat was new to him, but he’s never looked back.

My family had always got kittens, and so getting an adult cat was a new step. But I cannot describe how pleased I am with getting an adult cat.

She settled in immediately, and I didn't have any of the problems you can get with kittens.

Adult cats have already begun to show more of their individual personality. Which helps you choose one to suit you.

James wanted to rescue a cat that was excitable and playful.

"I called her Monkey because she stands on her hind legs and dances and climbed trees a lot.

"My favourite thing about Monkey now is how she gently places her paws on our faces while we sleep (and she often falls asleep with a paw on me)."

The right rescue cat for you

There are many adult rescue cats in our centres in desperate need of new homes. Whether you’re looking for a lap cat or an active cat we’re bound to have one in our care that will suit you.

I think rescuing an adult cat is even better than rescuing a kitten, partly because there are lots of them that need loving homes.

You get a warm glow for giving an animal a second chance, and sometime even imagine that an adult cat is grateful to you for rescuing them.
