In May 2011 Polly, now four years old and weighing a normal 485kg, went to her new home with Krissy Bowden, who lives just a few miles from our Felledge Equine and Animal Centre.
Krissy continued with Polly's training and began by taking Polly out on hacks to build up her strength and give her some extra experience.
She also hoped to do some long distance work known as endurance riding.
Krissy said:
Polly has settled straight in – it's like she's been here forever!
Rachael did an excellent job of breaking her in. You wouldn't know she had a bad start in life or that she was badly treated.
She's friendly and inquisitive and enjoys her surroundings.
When we hack out she thinks everyone in the street is there to say hello to her!
'She is pure love - there's no other way to describe her'
Polly was at Felledge for almost a year, but some horses stay for up to three years - usually because there is an ongoing court case and we are waiting to hear if we have been given ownership of the animals by the magistrates or judge.
Krissy says she found adopting a horse from the RSPCA a positive experience.
It's been fantastic. The RSPCA has been friendly and supportive and helped me choose the right horse for me - and that's definitely Polly!
She is pure love, there's no other way to describe her.
Polly is enjoying every moment of her new life.
