Bay horse Reg came into our care at a very young age after he was left out in the snow, with no access to water and in poor condition.
After spending two months waiting in private boarding, there was finally room for him to be able to join the other horses and ponies at Lockwood Centre for Horses and Donkeys.
Reg hadn't had much training or socialisation in his young life and needed to be taught to trust people and respect their space.
Despite his poor manners, Reg soon became a firm favourite with yard supervisor Charlotte Britton, who spent considerable time getting him used to being touched, lifting his feet and teaching him basic commands.
Here's what she had to say about him:
When he first came here he was a complete space invader. Now, he knows basic commands, although he does sometimes ignore them, but he's only young.
Reg is a real character, but he's never going to be a cuddly horse. He is getting used to being touched, although you do need to keep an eye on his head or he'll try and nip you!
Thanks to the patience and dedication of the staff at Lockwood, Reg has been able to find a new home and his future looks much brighter. At two-and-a-half years old, he still has much to learn, but the groundwork has already been done.
