How to clear your browsing history

To check your browser version, from the toolbar select Help > About Mozilla Firefox.

A new window will open detailing the version you have.

From the browser toolbar, select Tools > Clear Recent History.

From the new window, select the time range to clear from the drop-down list.

Tick the type of history you want to clear and select Clear Now. The window will automatically close.

Private Browsing

Firefox 4 - 14 also give the option of Private Browsing so that no history is recorded for a particular session.

To set this, select Tools > Start Private Browsing.

A new window appears asking if you would like to start Private Browsing. Select Start Private Browsing and the window will automatically close.

A message is then displayed in the existing browser window explaining about Private Browsing and how to turn it off. You're ready to start browsing.

To turn off Private Browsing, select Tools > Stop Private Browsing, or close Firefox.

NB. Private Browsing isn't automatic and has to be turned on for each session.
